Refinery 29 | 29Rooms
Refinery 29’s funhouse, 29Rooms returned to New York City for its fifth year with a brand new theme, “Expand Your Reality”.
In my personal opinion, this year’s event wasn’t worth the trip and the $40 ticket. The layout was really confusing, there wasn’t enough time to visit all the rooms and some of the rooms weren’t as impressive and memorable as previous years.
However, the two rooms I enjoyed the most were “House of Yes” and “Sonic Sanctuary”. The longest line for any room can be found outside of House of Yes’ dance party. With a live DJ, a cast of performers and multiple glitter beards, House of Yes makes it impossible to have a bad time. Inside the “Sonic Sanctuary” room, bronze gongs polished to a mirror create sound with electronic hammers and corresponding lights.
